Privacy Policy
Effective: 2026-05-26 · Last updated: 2026-05-26
This Privacy Policy explains what information Home Battery ROI Calculator (the “Site”) collects, why it’s collected, who it’s shared with, and the choices you have about it. Please read it before using the calculator or submitting your email.
The short version
- We collect the information you type into the calculator (ZIP, monthly bill range, battery interest, etc.) plus your email if you choose to unlock your results.
- We share that information with one or more local installer partners who may contact you with quotes. That’s how the Site stays free.
- We do not email or text you ourselves. We don’t build a marketing list. We don’t spam.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing the address at the bottom of this page.
What we collect
When you use the calculator, we collect:
- The information you provide: ZIP code, rough monthly electric bill, whether you have solar, when you use electricity, how often your power goes out, which battery you’re considering, and your willingness to enroll in utility battery programs (VPP).
- Your email address, only if you choose to submit it through the email gate to unlock your results.
- Technical information automatically: your IP address, browser type, and the time of your submission. This is used to verify consent records and prevent fraud/abuse.
We do not collect: your name (unless you provide it later to a partner), phone number, home address, social security number, financial information, or any sensitive personal data.
How we use it
- To compute your battery payback estimate. The numbers you enter feed our calculator.
- To share you as a sales lead with one or more local installer partners who pay us for these introductions. This is the Site’s business model.
- To maintain a compliance log of your consent (so we can prove you opted in).
- To improve the Site using aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
We do not use your information to email or text you, build a newsletter, or target you with ads.
Who we share with
By submitting your email through the gate, you consent to having your submitted information (email + the calculator inputs above) shared with:
- Solar/battery installer partners and lead networks — these are third-party companies (such as Modernize, SolarReviews, Profitise, or individual local installers) that purchase your information as a sales lead. They may contact you with quotes, follow-up calls, or emails to discuss installing a home battery system.
- Service providers we use to run the Site (such as Cloudflare for hosting and Resend for transactional email). These providers process data on our behalf and don’t use it for their own purposes.
- Law enforcement or legal authorities if required by valid legal process.
Once your information is shared with a partner, that partner’s own privacy policy and contact practices apply. We are not responsible for what they do with your information after that point. We do not control whether they call, email, or text you. If you don’t want partner contact, do not submit your email through the gate.
Your rights
Right to opt out / not submit
You don’t have to submit your email. The calculator works without it — you can fill in the form and run the numbers without the email gate, you just won’t see the unblurred result.
Right to delete (CCPA, GDPR, and similar)
You can request that we delete your information from our records at any time. Email us at the address below and include the email you submitted. We process deletion requests within 30 days. Note: once we have shared your information with a partner, you’ll need to contact that partner separately to request deletion from their records.
Right to know what we have
You can request a copy of the information we have on file for you. Email us at the address below.
California residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to opt out of the “sale” of personal information. Because we share lead information with partners who pay us, this may qualify as a “sale” under California law. To opt out, email us at the address below with the subject line “CCPA Opt-Out” and the email you submitted. We will remove your record and not share future submissions associated with that email.
Cookies and tracking
The Site uses Cloudflare Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not collect personally identifying information, and does not require a consent banner under GDPR/CCPA. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any cookie-based tracking.
The Site may display third-party advertising through Google AdSense in the future. If/when ads are enabled, AdSense may use cookies subject to its own privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We will update this Privacy Policy and add a cookie disclosure at that time.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we will delete it.
Data security
We use industry-standard security measures (HTTPS, Cloudflare DDoS protection, encrypted environment variables) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Data retention
We retain lead submission records for as long as needed to:
- Service your request and the partner relationship
- Comply with legal recordkeeping requirements (typically up to 4 years for consent records)
- Resolve disputes
You can request earlier deletion at any time as described above.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top. We’ll post the previous version on request.
Contact us
Questions, deletion requests, opt-out requests, or other concerns: email [email protected] with a clear subject line (e.g., “CCPA Opt-Out,” “Data Deletion,” etc.). We aim to respond within 7 business days.
This privacy policy was drafted on 2026-05-26 by the site operator (a non-attorney). It is intended as a plain-English summary of our practices. It is not legal advice. If you require legal advice about your information, consult an attorney.
